Interview with Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeons Dr. Payman Danielpour and Dr. John Layke about the benefits of coolsculpting.

JuliaQ: What is the Cool Sculpt?
A:Coolsculpting is a revolutionary, non-surgical procedure to reduce fat cells though Cryolipolysis (freezing fat cells). By doing so, the fat is naturally eliminated from your body. No needles, incisions, anesthesia, and most importantly, no down-time. It’s an effective and safe treatment for body contouring and is also FDA approved.

Q: How long does it take and is it painful?
A: The treatment takes one hour to treat one area. More than one area can be treated on the same day. The maximum amount of times the same area should be treated is only twice, if necessary, and six weeks apart.

Q: Is there any downtime?
A: There is absolutely no downtime for this treatment though swelling, bruising, and numbness are likely side effects that will occur after the treatment. These potential side effects are temporary and could last for a few days to a few weeks.

Q: How is it different from liposuction or a tummy tuck?
A: CoolSculpting, Liposuction, and Tummy Tucks are all body contouring procedures. Yet, each of these procedures vary from one another in regards to incisions, recommended anesthesia, post operative compression garment(s), and down-time duration. Coolsculpting is the only procedure mentioned that requires no anesthesia, no incisions, no anesthesia, no post treatment garments necessary and no down-time. Results are typically most evident.

Q: Can I do it if I am lifting my kids?
A: Though you may experience tenderness, numbness and swelling in the areas treated with CoolSculpting, immediately after and up to a few weeks after the treatment, resuming normal activities shouldn’t be an issue.
