It’s our day to shine and be pampered, but let’s be realistic it doesn’t always seem to work out that way so http://www.redtri.com is sharing their ideas of how you can spend a great Mother’s Day.
Get Mom-Spired
If you or your mom need some help in the home design department, we have a fun activity that will inspire you both. Tour the Pasadena Showcase House. The entire estate (pictured), from the front yard to the garage, is carefully styled and design by an interior design team. Rich, luxurious, and entirely beautiful, the showcase house is a fabulous way to spend the day (or evening!) in someone else’s home, where marveling with your mouth open is entirely appropriate. Tickets purchased in advance start at $30 and proceeds from your tickets support the LA Philharmonic, Walt Disney Concert Hall and local symphonic, cultural and educational programs for youth since 1948.
(TIP: Can’t spend the day with your mom on actual mother’s day, but want to do something fun another day? Download this chart for schedules to free art and culture, every day of the week at some of Los Angeles’ top museums. From the Getty Center to LACMA to FIDM Museum, you and your mom can tour LA’s finest museums and get some quality mom/daughter time!)
No Need to Send Flowers, Make them!
No brunch or party is complete without a fabulous centerpiece. Obviously, you can go to Trader Joes for $5.99 hydrangeas or $1.99 Daffodil bunches. But we love the Arrangement Bar at Rolling Greens Nursery where you can work with one of their “Baristas” to create a unique personal expression using anything from succulents, orchids, ferns, lava rock or even driftwood. Assembled in one of their signature containers, this is one gift made with T.L.C. your mom will never forget.
Treat Her to Sweets!
Nothing says thank you more than sugar, spice and everything nice. Here’s a round up of our favorite places for sweets and goodies.
Magnolia Bakery
Magnolia Bakery put a twist on its delightful classic vanilla buttercream cupcakes, rolling them in sanding sugar and nonpareils, and placing atop edible images of a lovely assortment of vintage moms busy baking love into every bite.
