Why Judith Manouchehri is running for BHUSD Governing Board
By Judith Manouchehri
I’m thrilled to be running for Beverly Hills Unified School District Governing Board because Beverly Hills is not just my home, it’s shaped me. My commitment to BHUSD is demonstrated through my volunteer work on both the Beverly Vista Middle School PTA Executive Board and as an elected member of the Hawthorne School Site Council. Further, my involvement in our City extends to my roles as a member of the Beverly Hills Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce. I have a deep understanding of not only a collaborative professional setting, but of a public service mindset.
I’m the only candidate that’s a true product of our entire Beverly Hills school system. I’m proud of my BHUSD education that allowed me to go on to study Political Science and Public Policy at UCLA, where I then earned my JD on the other side of the tracks, at USC’s Gould School of Law.
My professional experience involves a legal practice as a transactional, construction, and real estate attorney. I served as in-house counsel for Panda Express, where I was part of a team responsible for the development, construction, and leasing of anywhere from 150-175 new stores per year, throughout the U.S.. Since then, while in my own private practice, I have represented property owners, developers, landlords, tenants and business owners in all aspects of construction and development. I have a proven track record handling complex legal transactions in the construction field, and it would be my pleasure to bring my professional expertise to BHUSD while it is at a crossroads in its Construction program.
My three children are in various grades, in various schools here in Beverly Hills. I know the perspective of what families experience at BHUSD on a daily basis and I believe we must strive to enable each of the children to reach their own unique potential by recognizing each child forges their own path.
I seek a seat on the school board to raise the expectation of educational excellence. Our schools are the heartbeat of the community. Our children deserve a unified community and beyond to support them in their journey to be global citizens. Expecting excellence recognizes that although test scores and school ranking are important, standing alone they are not the markers of an excellent educational program. We must help our students gain knowledge, and to master and enjoy the full array of subjects, experiences, and possibilities they encounter on their journey through BHUSD. We want our kids to leave BHUSD as engaged and active learners, responsible stewards, compassionate neighbors, and effective communicators. Please join me in expecting excellence and vote Judy Manouchehri for Beverly Hills School Board on or before November 8th! Learn more at Judyforbhusd.com
